About Christian García-Roque

Christian García-Roque is a tenor from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has built his career around Spanish-language opera and zarzuela, performing across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

His roles in Spanish opera and zarzuela include Don Urbano in the American premiere of Boccherini's Clementina (Opera Southwest, 2025), Manita in the world premiere of Caturla's Manita en el suelo (Americas Society, New York, 2022), and Esteban in the world premiere of Morales Matos' Si me ven llorando (2018). On the zarzuela stage he has appeared with Teatro Lírico in El barbero de Sevilla, La corte del Faraón, Los claveles, and El dúo de la Africana.

Beyond the Spanish repertoire, he sang Roderigo in Verdi's Otello opposite Roberto Alagna for CulturArte de Puerto Rico (2025), and toured the United States with Teatro Lírico D'Europa as Gastone in La Traviata and Spoletta in Tosca. In 2026 he takes on the role of Marco in Byron O. Young's opera Stuck Elevator.

On the concert platform, he has been tenor soloist in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico (2025), Orff's Carmina Burana (2024), and Berlioz's Roméo et Juliette (2023), among others. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, and received an Encouragement Award at the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, Puerto Rico district.
